It’s time to believe God that this is a season of mighty restoration on every area of our life according to his word

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Joe 2:25.(KJV)

We need to cry to the Lord on behalf of his people to pour out his spirit and power to bring all the restoration that we need.

Let us consecrate a fast to the Lord according to this scripture;

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Isa 58:8,(KJV)

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Gen. 1:26-28)

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Gen. 2:15)

In these scriptures we find the origin of ministry as ordained of God from the beginning. It was God’s assigned role for man. Its scope included the following:

Being fruitful.

Self-multiplication and replenishment of the earth with men made after the image of God.

Subjugation of every rebellion that is found in the earth to the rule of God.

Dominion – (Surveillance, Authority and Government) over the following:

1. The marine and aquatic world.

2. The world of birds and flying things

3. The entire earth and everything that moves on it

This is profound. The foregoing reveals the boundless scope of ministry as ordained of God originally.

Ministry has spiritual and physical dimensions. The two dimensions are inseparable in every realm of ministry. Ministry did not start in the New Testament of the Bible. It is not limited to and certainly does not merely refer to religious activities as widely believed today. Ministry is not limited to Christian organizations and structures that are involved in preaching, missions and related “spiritual” activities. Yes ministry may start at this level but it certainly is far more detailed than these necessary activities that we are all very familiar with.

Ministry is far reaching. Ministry is all we are called of God to do on his earth, while we have the opportunity to still be here. To further understand this important word, let us take a look at the Greek, one of the original languages from which our bibles of today were translated.

The Greek word for ministry is Diakonia. This word means serviceable labor, service or assistance. It involves compassionate love towards the needy. Every business, every calling, so far as its labor benefits others is a Diakonia. Diakonia is the labor needed for others, both in the case of individuals and generally as a total concept, including all branches of service.

To minister in this concept is therefore not just to work, but to do work that provides service for others. The Greek word “Diakoneo” for minister generally means to do anyone a service, to care for someone’s needs. There is an inferred service rendered, bringing advantage to others. When Diakoneo is used, then helping someone directly is involved.

We therefore see that Ministry in its true and widest sense includes all fields of human endeavor. Ministry is the beautiful word that refers to God’s desire to see our nations and societies as a blend of humanity sacrificially and lovingly rendering service to one another, in order to create order, serenity, harmony, growth and development. As we take a look at our nations today, we see the need for ministers at every level such as; at home, in church, the general society, our schools and educational institutions, commercial and business places, government and administrative offices and so on.

The work we do in all these places is ministry, especially when rendered in true service to others.

In order to minister, you must first of all be in a right relationship with God. In our day where the ministry of lawlessness is already at work, he that will minister must first be truly born again. After this, the next is that the minister must be blessed of God. Notice the case of the first Adam and Eve his wife, while they were still in the state of innocence.

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”(Gen. 1:28)

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. (Gen. 9:1)

This blessing must first come in the spiritual dimension. This commencement blessing comes primarily in the form of God’s Holy Spirit overshadowing and infilling the physique of the minister. This results in supernatural endowment with power and authority. We are thus enabled to affect creation in both the spiritual and physical dimensions by God’s awesome power. With this also comes the ability to control and harness the services of God’s holy angels in order to both overcome opposition in the spiritual as well as make things happen positively in the physical.

THE NATURE OF MINISTRY

Anyone who will be God’s minister must first have this endowment from on high – God’s indwelling Holy Spirit. This is an inescapable precondition to successful ministry. This is that anointing referred to in the opening passages of Is. 61:

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”(Isa. 61:1)

All true ministry today must acknowledge the fall of man through sin, his reprobate nature and the alienation from the grace of God that comes with it. This is the beginning of all true ministry. Men also need to know the good news that reconciliation to God has been provided through the death of Jesus on the cross. Men must also know about his resurrection from the dead, his ascension into heaven and his Holy Spirit released to all mankind as the one and only basis of true life both now and in the hereafter. This is what the prophet Isaiah means by saying –

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek…”

All ministers who have been thus empowered are hence required to commence ministry by preaching. Even if it is only the meek that will respond, nevertheless preach we must or else we are false ministers. Paul said:

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2Tim. 4:2)

Again he said:

“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.” (1Cor. 9:16-17)

Although ministry is not limited to preaching, preaching itself is an important foundation block of all successful ministry. In these last days we need to ensure that we preach and are known as those who preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, the one who came to die for the salvation of mankind. The simple message is that he died on the cross to save us from sin, he rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to empower us for righteous living through the indwelling Holy Spirit who has been released to all that are willing among men.

Do not wait to find the meek before preaching. Use every available opportunity to preach. Even if you face religious opposition or argument, still preach in love. Wisdom may be called for; a times discretion may be required. Certainly, loving compassion and desire to help the other must be the overriding motive. Nevertheless, preach you must. This is the nature of the true minister. He or she is a preacher. He or she exploits every opportunity available in his service to mankind for preaching.

What really is the gospel message? You may say many things about God and Jesus and not preach the gospel. Here then is the basic core message of the gospel:

1. All mankind are condemned sinners who cannot save themselves.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Rom. 3:23) see also Rom. 3:10-18.

2. The punishment for sin is death.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)

3. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.

“For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” (Heb. 9:19-22)

4. Jesus Christ died and shed his blood for the remission of our sins.

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Rom. 5:6-9)

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” (Rev 1:5)

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” (1John 1:7)

5. By his resurrection from the dead, and ascension into heaven, Jesus is able to save us to the uttermost and empower us never to sin again.

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.”(Rom.6:4-7)

6. You can receive salvation from sin and experience the new life in Christ Jesus by confessing to the above and inviting Jesus into your heart as Lord and savior. When Jesus comes into our hearts by the Holy Ghost, then we experience complete salvation instantly as a miracle event.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:9-13)

When you begin to share your faith as above you have become a true minister even if you do not possess a title.

Preaching and faith sharing must dovetail into the twin ministries of healing and deliverance. Without this, the process of salvation is not complete for the convert. Isaiah continued:

“…he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”

When a man or woman gets saved, he needs to be taken through the healing and demon deliverance aspects of ministry. This is what produces total liberty. Man requires total liberty in order to progress into other aspects of ministry. He also needs to be released into his or her full inheritance in order to facilitate ministry by the new convert. Hear the words of Prophet Obadiah.

“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” (Obadiah1: 17)

Isaiah meant the same thing when he said,

“…To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, …” (Is 61:2).

The acceptable year of the Lord is the year of jubilee, when the slave returns both to freedom as well as to the possession of his inheritance again.

Hear the Apostle Paul explain the same thing when he defined his ministry calling to King Agrippa

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Acts 26:18

Paul spoke here about the convert receiving forgiveness and an inheritance after post conversion deliverance.

Our ministry must involve this level of help to the nations. It does not end with just making converts. It is when the convert reaches this stage that he himself can grow into the prophetic ministry of intercession and proclamation for the restoration described in Is 61:2-3

At this point of ministry, the convert is sufficiently released, endowed and empowered to tackle the earth and the problems there. This original agenda of God is what the church has erroneously ignored for centuries, especially from the days of Reformation. Hear the prophet

“…And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.” (Is 61:4-7)

The problem today however is that many see the faith sharing or witnessing aspect of ministry as the beginning and end of all ministry. This is a very sad situation. Sad because it has resulted in very grievous and grave consequences, because as we abandoned the wider scopes of true ministry, we left the world in a free fall into the waiting laps of satan and his hordes of hell. The result has been an abnormal rate of rise of what the bible calls the mystery of iniquity (or lawlessness), over the past two decades that closed the 20th century.
